The service
The Alta Vista Way is a personal budgeting service: a simple monthly picture of your money — what came in, what you planned, what you spent, what's left, and your savings rate. You enter your own monthly figures, and the service keeps your history, trends, and plan in one place.
Your account
- Sign-in is by one-time code emailed to you — there is no password. Keep your email account secure: codes sent to it grant access to your budget.
- Your email address identifies your household; signing in again returns you to it.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the figures you enter.
Bank connections
If and when you choose to connect a bank account, the connection is made through Plaid, a dedicated bank-connection service. Your bank credentials go to Plaid directly and are never visible to us; we receive read-only account and transaction information to fill in your monthly numbers. You can disconnect a bank at any time from your budget page.
Not financial advice
The Alta Vista Way presents the numbers you provide (or authorize us to read) for your own personal use. It is not investment, tax, or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for a professional advisor. Decisions about your money are yours.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to access other households' data, probe or overload the service, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend access that threatens the security or integrity of the service.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the service evolves; material changes will be announced on this site or by email. Questions go to hello@myaltavista.com.
